Bear’s Den Trading Post is what the family name is known for.  Founded in the early 1950’s by the Matriarch of the family, Theresa Lazore Gutheirie, affectionately known to many as Theresa Bear.  Located on the St. Regis Mohawk Indian Reservation, Theresa started her business with two gas pumps and a small souvenir shop to support her children.  During the St. Lawrence Seaway Development Project, she ran a boarding house and a snack shop bar selling burgers and pizzas.  She instilled in her family an ethic of hard work and determination to achieve success.  Today, Bear’s Den Trading Post has grown to a full service fuel station offering all blends of gasoline and distillate products, touchless car wash center, a family restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner along with the North Country’s Best Pies and our Exclusive Native American Retail store showcasing the area’s native handmade products and today’s latest Native American Blankets, Baskets, Jewelry, Paintings, Prints and Souvenirs.

Bear’s Den Family Restaurant is a 108 seat family-style restaurant serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner to the community and travelers.  Known today for “home style cooking at it’s very best” it has evolved over the past 25 years to meet the changing needs of our customers.  Serving local families and travelers, we strive toward perfection in serving delicious American cuisine along with our Traditional Native American cuisine with generous portions at reasonable prices.  With daily specials and our variety of cuisines to health conscious, Italian, American, Mexican and Native American we have the cuisine to tame even the biggest hunger.

Bear’s Den Trading Post- Gift Shop – The Gift Shop specializes in Native American crafts and gifts and assorted wildlife items. We carry many handmade gifts from Native peoples across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and South America. You’ll find Sterling Silver jewelry from the Navajos set with genuine turquoise and other beautiful stones. The Ojibwa provide us with unique porcupine quill baskets and leather crafts. Birch bark baskets and items from the Manawan peoples of Northern Quebec as well as handmade pottery from the Cocuchas Indians of Central Mexico are available. Our own local Mohawks create beautiful and functional baskets from black ash splints and fragrant sweetgrass. Iroquois beadwork is also their specialty of which we have quite a selection that includes items from the Oneidas and Senecas.

We also carry a full line of moccasins, T-shirts, plush toys, greeting cards, candles, and souvenirs. For the culturally minded, browse through our selection of Native made drums or flutes. We offer a wide range of gifts suitable for all ages and pocketbooks.  Bear’s Den Gift Shop is the only place where you will find something for everyone.

Western Door Convenience Store, located on the west end of Akwesasne, is minutes away from the International Bridge to Canada and the town of Massena, NY. In-Touch Towers is our communications tower located on the Akwesasne Mohawk Territory. This newly constructed telecommunications tower has sites currently available on our tower and is ready to better serve businesses or customers with paging, pcs, cellular, microwave and other wireless communications devices.  This tower was originally erected strictly for economic development purposes as a spring board to bring today’s state of the art communications to the Akwesasne Mohawk Territory.

JEN Tobacco was an acquisition to the retail stores.  JENs exclusively sells only premium and discount tobacco products and accessories.  JENs is our place for all your convenient tobacco needs located on the eastern side of the Akwesasne Territory and recently added a Drive Thru window to make your life easier. It was closed in November 2011.

NASCO Transport Ltd. is a Freight Trucking Company currently based out of Western, New York and is available for hire.  NASCO’s mission is to become a leading provider of transportation of products by providing guaranteed, timely delivery and defect-free product in a hassle-free environment. NECO Distribution (Native Energy Company) is Petroleum Wholesale Company currently supplying Native American Territories with petroleum and distillates.  Currently supplying Native American Reservations in the Buffalo Region and at our headquarters on the Akwesasne Mohawk Territory (a.k.a. Hogansburg, NY). The staff has over 50 years experience in the retail petroleum business and just entered our 10th year of wholesaling petroleum fuels. NECO possesses the knowledge, experience and has a proven industry track record of distributing millions of gallons of fuel per year enabling us to understand the trends and challenges the petroleum industry brings.

NECO Transport Ltd. is our Petroleum Transportation company currently transporting petroleum, and distillates products in Western, NY market.  We are proud to serve our customers in the Western, NY market hauling millions of gallons of product to their facilities each year.  Our success is achieved by operating with a modern fleet of tractors and trailers and hiring the best trained professionals in the industry.   NECO Transport posses the knowledge and experience to ensure that our customer’s fuels are delivered in a timely manner.

TL Lodging Inc. is a premier lodging management company that currently manages and operates the Comfort Inn & Suites Akwesasne (NY359). TL Lodging Inc. offers services to hotel owners with a total solution approach.  Our team has succeeded in the lodging industry by founding our mission with ensuring the profitability of the owners, ensuring fairness and a great work environment for our associates and the best hotel experience to our guests.  TL Lodging has recently been able to turn around the Comfort Inn & Suites Akwesasne to a Gold Award Winner for 2010 and is striving for the  Platinum Award.

Mohawk Distribution is a Tobacco and Candy Wholesale company currently distributing Native Made Tobacco products and convenience store related products to Native American Territories exclusively located within the borders of New York State.  Mohawk Distribution has a proven track record to deliver products to our customers in a timely manner.   We hope to be supplying all Native Territories within the US in the near future with the products retailers need at the price and margins they strive for.

NOC, Inc. (Native Optical Communications) Community Investment is a hallmark of the TMG family of companies, so in keeping with that tradition NOC, Inc. was formed to facilitate fiber to the home technology and provide high-speed communications capability on the territory.  Currently NOC does has have fiber to the home connectivity to beta customers and looking to provide businesses and homes with the technology in the community.  In the future NOC will further capitalize the developed infrastructure of fiber to the home and add more features to the existing services.

Heart to Heart Fitness is the newest addition to Tarbell Management Group’s family related companies.  Recently acquired in February 2010 and located in Akwesasne, NY the facility features over 29,000 square feet of fitness experience.  With a workout floor of over 7,000 square feet featuring state of the art treadmills, elliptical, stair climbers, stationary bikes, free weights and nautilus machines; Heart to Heart has the ideal equipment for everyone.  The gym features full locker rooms with showers, tanning machines, personal training, personal massage, group fitness classes, racquetball courts and a 1/10 of a mile indoor track on the 2nd floor overlooking the facility.  The facility is currently in the development of a renovation to improve the member’s experience.
